The southern section of the Esplanade will be enhanced by resurfacing and widening pavements, and introducing new seating. This will complement the northern, seaward-side of the Esplanade which was previously improved. Some of the existing parking bays on the Esplanade will be relocated to Dundas and Bath Street to allow the pavements to be widened. The project will also improve Dundas and Bath Street to help link the High Street and Esplanade.

As part of delivering the upcoming Culture and Leisure Anchor Attraction, planned phased works are scheduled to take place on the former M&S and Goodwins sites across Redcar High Street and the Esplanade in mid-August this year. Due to the nature of this work, diversions for pedestrians will be provided for approximately 12 weeks. Nearby businesses have been notified and will be open as usual and fully accessible for customers for the duration. Barriers and hoardings will be erected to limit access during this time; provisions are in place for alternate footpaths where appropriate.
