Redcar Town Centre Visitor Numbers Rise by 14%
More people are visiting Redcar town centre.
Between April and June this year, Redcar town centre welcomed 539,763 visitors, up from 472,492 during the same period last year. That's an increase of more than 14%.
The increase follows a number of improvements and investments across the town in recent years, including the Regent Cinema, the regeneration of Coatham seafront and improvements to the High Street. Work is also continuing on major projects such as Redcar Central Station and The Lookout, alongside plans for further investment in Station Road.
A busy programme of events has also helped attract residents and visitors, bringing more people into Redcar to enjoy everything the town has to offer throughout the year.
Cllr Alec Brown, Leader of the Council, said: "It's fantastic to see more people choosing to spend time in Redcar. We've grown the events programme in recent years, giving residents and visitors more reasons to come into the town and enjoy everything it has to offer. Alongside continued investment in the town centre, seafront and local attractions, it's encouraging to see that reflected in these figures."
