⛏️ Eston’s history is being built into the heart of the regeneration works
Four new Corten steel artworks are being installed, celebrating landmarks from Eston’s heritage.
Two feature the Eston Fan House, which provided vital air and ventilation for miners working beneath the Eston Hills, while two depict the original Eston Watchtower that was located on Eston Nab.
The designs reflect local history and follow a request from the Eston Regeneration Group to make sure the area’s heritage forms part of the improvements.
New interpretation boards will also be permanently installed, sharing information about Eston’s local history for residents and visitors.
Councillor Lynn Pallister MBE, Cabinet Member for Growth and Enterprise, said: “Eston has a proud history and it’s important that, as we invest in its future, we also celebrate the people, places and industries that shaped the area.”
The Corten steel is designed to naturally weather, giving the artworks their distinctive rust-coloured appearance.
