An ‘Active Travel route’ refers to trips made by walking and cycling, or by wheelchairs or mobility scooters. This investment will connect Eston to Redcar and Cleveland and Middlesbrough, providing residents easier access to surrounding areas and towns, as well as employment opportunities in South Bank and Teesworks, thereby benefitting the local economy.
The Active Travel development will provide residents with a safe route alternative to driving, encouraging more active modes of travel that will benefit people’s health and wellbeing, as well as the environment.
The Active Travel Route will also increase accessibility to other outdoor attractions in the area including Eston Leisure Centre and Eston Recreation Ground, as well as Flatts Lane Country Park, encouraging the use of these fantastic outdoor spaces.
